The AK ZERO2 is the second in-ear monitor from Astell&Kern, following the AK ZERO1. Each earpiece combines four different driver types: a micro rectangular planar dynamic driver for high frequencies, four custom balanced armature drivers covering the mid-low and full range, and a 10 mm dynamic driver paired with a piezoelectric transducer that acts as a super tweeter for the top end.
A low-noise crossover network balances the drivers. Each driver sits in an acoustic chamber made by 3D printing, which is meant to limit unwanted movement and resonance. The housing is CNC-machined aluminum with a diagonally cut hexagonal shape, and the units are assembled in Japan.
The earpieces connect to the cable through MMCX connectors. Two 4-core pure silver-coated OFC cables are supplied, one terminated in 3.5mm and one in 4.4mm. Silicone and foam ear tips and a carrying case are included.
