The HD6 is a two-speaker home music system. The left speaker is powered and holds the Class AB amplifier, the DAC and all the connections. The right speaker is passive and is linked to the left one with the supplied speaker wire and banana plugs. Each speaker has a 5.5-inch aramid fiber woofer and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter, in a rear-ported cabinet offered in matte black, walnut veneer or hi-gloss white. Power is rated at 50 W RMS per channel, with 150 W total peak (AES).
Sources can be connected by aptX-HD Bluetooth, optical digital, 3.5 mm mini-jack or stereo RCA. A turntable needs a phono preamp stage, either built into the deck or external. Optical and Bluetooth feed the built-in DAC. A subwoofer output allows a powered subwoofer with RCA or 3.5 mm input to be added. Optical input has a fixed level, so volume is set with the supplied remote instead of a TV remote.
Setup needs no network configuration, no passwords and no extra amplifier. The speakers include an idle mode that switches off the final amp stage when playback stops, and magnetic grilles that can be removed.
