Alva Duo is a phono stage that boosts and equalises the signal from a turntable cartridge to a level a hi-fi system can use. It handles both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, with separate gain and input settings for each, so it can work with a wide range of turntables.
A built-in headphone amplifier with a 6.35mm output allows private listening without a separate amplifier. A subsonic filter removes low-frequency rumble, which is useful with worn records. The circuit uses a surface-mounted board, and a switch-mode power supply operates outside the audible range to limit hum and interference.
The unit powers itself down after 20 minutes of inactivity, and standby consumption is under half a watt. It works with mains voltages worldwide. The package includes a mains lead, a user manual and a safety guide.
