The DCD-900NE is a dedicated two-channel CD player. It reads CD, CD-R/RW, MP3, WMA and AAC discs, and handles Red Book discs with or without emphasis encoding. It does not play DVDs. Playback functions include program play, repeat and random play, plus a dimmable or switch-off display and an auto power off function.
Signal processing is built around an ES9018K2M DAC with AL32 Processing Plus, which uses interpolation, upsampling and bit extension. The master clock sits next to the DAC, and the analog and digital circuits have separate rectifiers. The transformers are specially fitted and the audio and digital boards are spaced further apart to limit vibration and interference. The front panel is aluminum.
A front USB-A port plays files from a USB stick, including FLAC and WAV up to 192 kHz/24 bit, ALAC up to 96 kHz/24 bit, AIFF and DSD up to 5.6 MHz. Outputs are a pair of gold-plated RCA analog jacks plus optical and coaxial digital outputs. A remote control bus input and output is fitted, and the supplied remote can operate Denon two-channel amplifiers.
