The HEOS Link HS2 is a network pre-amplifier and streamer. It connects to an existing amplifier or active speakers and gives that system access to streaming services, internet radio, music on a NAS, USB storage and files on a phone or tablet. It also lets the connected system join a multiroom setup with other HEOS products.
Audio is sent out through variable or fixed analog outputs, a digital coaxial output and an optical output. Analog and optical digital sources can be fed in through the aux input, so a non-HEOS amplifier or source can be shared with other HEOS zones. File support covers WAV, ALAC and FLAC up to 24-bit/192 kHz and DSD at 2.8 and 5.6 MHz. Bluetooth is supported, and the app offers bass, treble and balance adjustment.
It connects to the network over dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac) or a single Ethernet jack, and is controlled with the HEOS app on iOS and Android. Volume and mute buttons sit on the side panel. Per user feedback on the maker's store, AirPlay is not offered and there is no multiband equalizer.
