Description

The Ripped Speaker is a mono analog fuzz pedal inspired by early distorted guitar and bass sounds, such as those from a damaged speaker cone, a loose tube or a faulty console channel. Low fuzz settings give a lo-fi, vintage character, while higher settings produce a fully saturated, modern fuzz.

Four knobs control the sound: Vol sets output level, Fuzz sets the input gain into the fuzz circuit, Tone is an active tilt-shift EQ that is flat at noon, darker and bassier counterclockwise and brighter with less low end clockwise. The Rip knob is a bias control that sets clipping at the top and bottom of the waveform. Noon is the most open and least compressed position; turning it either way gives gated, sputtering or choked textures, with clockwise producing a harder gate and counterclockwise a smoother fade-out.

The pedal uses true bypass switching with an LED status indicator. It has a 1/4" input (1MΩ) and a 1/4" output (100Ω), runs on an included 9V battery, and can also be powered from an optional EHX 9.6VDC-200mA adapter, which is sold separately.
