The Scarlett 18i20 3rd Gen is a rackmount USB audio interface offering 18 simultaneous inputs and 20 outputs at up to 24-bit/192 kHz. It has eight mic preamps with switchable Air mode, two high-impedance instrument inputs and ten balanced analogue outputs, which can serve as monitor feeds or effects sends.
Monitoring features include Anti Thump main/alt speaker switching, two headphone outputs with independent level controls, and a built-in talkback microphone. A Loopback function supports streaming and sampling, and segmented front-panel metering helps with setting levels. Focusrite Control software handles routing and monitor mixes.
Digital connectivity comes from S/PDIF plus two ADAT inputs and outputs, adding up to eight channels each way, along with MIDI I/O. The unit connects to Mac, Windows or iPadOS over USB-C (USB 2.0), runs from the supplied power supply rather than bus power, and ships with a software bundle including Ableton Live Lite, Pro Tools Intro+, Cubase LE and the Hitmaker Expansion.
