The KROSS is a compact music workstation built around the EDS-i sound engine, with piano, electric piano and drum sounds drawn from twice as much PCM memory as earlier Korg instruments. A Sound Selector helps locate sounds, and a Favorites function stores 64 sounds or audio songs for quick recall during a performance. Quick Layer/Split allows layering or splitting sounds on the fly, and up to seven effects can run at the same time.
Production tools include a 16-track MIDI sequencer, a step sequencer inherited from the Electribe, a drum track and an arpeggiator. A stereo audio recorder captures performances and vocals and supports overdubbing.
A mic input and external audio input jacks let a microphone or other audio source be connected directly. The keyboard connects to a computer over USB for use with a DAW as a plug-in. It can run on 6 AA batteries, and it comes in a red and black two-tone finish, with a limited edition Platinum finish for the 88-key model.
