The microKORG S is an update to the original microKORG analog modeling synthesizer. It keeps the program-based workflow, where you choose a sound by musical genre and then edit it, and it includes a vocoder with a miniature microphone.
The main addition is a speaker system built into the chassis: stereo speakers plus a woofer, housed in a new box structure with a bass reflex port. Together with battery operation, this lets it be played where there is no PA or mains power. Memory has grown, with 64 new preset programs focused on punchy leads, electric pianos and solid basses, plus 64 extra user slots so the presets stay intact. A Favorite Select function lets you assign up to eight programs for instant recall on stage.
The front panel has a white finish and the side panels are maple wood. The microKORG Sound Editor software supports this model from version 2.00.
