The Pa4X is an arranger workstation built around the EDS-X sound engine, which draws on a PCM library more than ten times larger than that of earlier models. It holds over 1,900 sounds, including GM and XG sets, and adds 768 user Sound and 384 user Drumkit locations with full editing. Samples can be recorded and edited, and WAV, AIFF and SoundFont waveforms can be imported.
Accompaniment comes from more than 580 factory Styles, each with Intros, Endings, Fills, Count-ins and Breaks, four Keyboard Sets and four Pads. A Chord Sequencer records chord progressions on the fly, and Kaoss functions allow Styles and MIDI songs to be remixed live. Two MP3/MIDI players offer a vocal remover, lyrics and score display. The SongBook database stores song settings and set lists. Effects include 148 effect types, Waves mastering tools and TC Helicon vocal processing on the mic input.
It comes as a 76-key or 61-key model with semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive keys and aftertouch. Additional devices connect through USB HOST ports, and a microSD slot is provided for storage.
