The TLM 127 is a transformerless large-diaphragm condenser microphone built around the K 127 capsule, which is derived from the K 103 used in the TLM 103. Its sound character comes from the capsule alone, with no electronic equalisation. It is addressed from the side, and a three-position switch on the front selects omnidirectional, cardioid or remote control ("R").
On the back are a 14 dB pre-attenuation switch and a two-position high-pass filter: 15 Hz ("LIN", 12 dB/octave) or 100 Hz, which can be used to reduce proximity effect. Self-noise is 8 dB(A), maximum SPL is 140 dB (154 dB with the pad engaged), and the A-weighted dynamic range is 132 dB.
The microphone runs from standard 48 V phantom power over a 3-pin XLR connection. With the optional N 248 power supply and the switch set to "R", wide-angle cardioid, hypercardioid and figure-8 become available by remote control over cable runs of up to 300 m. The internal assembly and capsule are elastically mounted, and an EA 1 elastic suspension is included.
