The 2MR Mono is a moving magnet cartridge made for mono microgroove LPs. It carries a nude spherical diamond stylus with an 18 µm tip radius on an aluminium cantilever, and has a nominal output of 4 mV.
The motor uses quad coils and split pole pins. The output is strapped so both sets of pole pins deliver the same signal, which allows true mono playback on an ordinary stereo phono stage without mono-specific equipment.
The housing is narrow and low in profile, designed for turntables and tonearms such as Rega that need a low-form-factor cartridge. It fits without modifications or spacers under the tonearm and mounts with two screws in a half-inch mount. The recommended tracking force is 1.8 g, with a range of 1.6 to 2.0 g, and the cartridge weighs 6 g.
