CB6i

The CB6i is a low-profile centre-channel loudspeaker using PMC's ATL bass loading. It is a three-way design with a 170mm doped bass driver, a 75mm soft-dome mid-range in its own isolated enclosure, and a 27mm ferrofluid-cooled soft-dome tweeter. The mid-range unit is intended to keep speech distinct during complex film passages, and the bass driver is the same as the one in the OB1i.

Because the drivers sit close together in a shallow cabinet, the standard i series tweeter could not be used. A specially engineered tweeter with a very compact neodymium magnet assembly takes its place, built to match the characteristics of the standard unit. The cabinet uses CNC-cut 18mm and 25mm panels and a 25-element crossover with 24dB/octave slopes at 380Hz and 3.8kHz, aimed at high power handling and wide dispersion.

Connection is through three pairs of 4mm sockets, allowing tri-wire or tri-amp operation. The speaker is rated at 6 ohms and 87dB sensitivity, with a recommended amplifier power of 70-300W. A 20 year warranty applies when the product is registered within 10 days of purchase, subject to terms.
