Description
The RD-08 is a portable stage piano built around SuperNATURAL acoustic and electric piano sounds carried over from the RD-2000 and RD-88, plus more than 3,000 additional tones from the ZEN-Core engine, including organs, synths, strings and brass. The keyboard is the 88-note PHA-4 with escapement and Ivory Feel keys, in a body designed to keep weight down.
The panel is laid out for quick access during a performance: top-level buttons for sound selection and transpose, four control knobs for layers, effects and EQ, and two assignable wheels. Settings can be stored in 100 Scene memories and recalled with one touch. Three parts, zone effects, reverb, a master compressor, a song player and a metronome are included. Onboard stereo speakers (6 W x 2) allow use without an external amp.
For connections there are line outputs, a headphone jack, a mic input, a stereo line input, pedal jacks, MIDI OUT and a USB computer port that works as a MIDI interface (and as an audio interface from system version 1.01). An optional RD-08 Upgrade, bought as a Lifetime Key on Roland Cloud, adds SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 3, MainStage support and two Wave Expansion slots.
