The SA700 is a handheld music player built around two AKM AK4492ECB DAC chips, which the maker describes as a first for a portable player. It decodes PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and plays native DSD up to DSD256, and it handles MQA files and streams. The body is stainless steel, and the casing takes its look from the maker's first-generation player.
A ring of LEDs around the volume wheel shows volume and status. The colour changes with the bit depth of the track being played (16-bit, 24-bit, 32-bit or DSD), and the LEDs can be switched off in the settings. The 4.1-inch touch screen runs a GUI that blends the maker's current interface with a look from its early players. An Open APP Service lets users install APK streaming apps by copying them into a folder on the player.
Outputs are a 3.5mm unbalanced jack and a 2.5mm balanced jack. A USB Type-C port serves as a PC/Mac input. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 with aptX HD are built in. There is 128GB of internal memory and one microSD slot that takes cards up to 1TB. Firmware updates are delivered over the air.
