A5+ Classic

The A5+ Classic is a two-speaker system: the left cabinet is the active speaker with the amplifier built in, and the right one is passive and connects to it by speaker wire. Each cabinet houses a 5-inch aramid fiber woofer and a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter. The amplifier is Class AB and delivers 50W RMS per channel, with 150W total peak output (AES). The speakers have no grills and no network or Bluetooth functions, so no setup or passwords are needed.

The rear panel of the active speaker has a stereo mini-jack input, stereo RCA inputs and RCA outputs, and a speaker output for the passive speaker. The RCA outputs allow a powered subwoofer such as the S8 to be added. A USB charging port, a front volume control and an IR receiver for the supplied remote are also fitted. Turntables need a phono preamp stage, either built in or external, before connecting. There is no headphone output, so headphones need a separate unit such as the D1 DAC.

The active speaker has a voltage selector, a fuse holder and a detachable AC power cord, which makes it usable in countries with different mains voltages. A power-saving idle mode switches off the final amplifier stage when no music is playing. It is offered in Matte Black, Hi-Gloss Piano White and Carbonized bamboo finishes.
