DT 880 Edition

The DT 880 Edition is a circumaural headphone with a semi-open design. Ambient noise is reduced but not shut out, and some sound escapes, which places it between a closed and a fully open model such as the DT 990 Edition. The tuning is neutral with deep, controlled bass, which suits jazz and classical material where individual parts need to stay distinct.

The ear pads are velour and breathable, the headband applies a soft clamping force of about 2.8 N, and the yokes are aluminium. The headphones are light for their size and are intended for long listening sessions. The build is hand-crafted in Germany, and all components can be replaced as spare parts.

This version has a nominal impedance of 600 ohms and a frequency response of 5 to 35,000 Hz. It connects by cable with a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug and a 6.35 mm adapter. It has no remote. The impedance is marked on the plug shaft: 600 Ω, 32 Ω, or no marking for 250 ohms.
