The 1440 records stereo loops at 24-bit/44.1 kHz without compression, giving 1440 seconds of total recording time, and can hold 20 separate loops. Overdubbing is unlimited, and an Overdub knob works like a feedback control to set how earlier layers fade. A Tempo knob changes playback and overdub speed, and a 4-digit display with a push-able Mode knob is used to select and adjust modes.
Playback effects include Reverse, an Octave button that halves the loop speed to drop the pitch by one octave, and a 1 Shot mode that plays the loop once and stops. The second footswitch can be set to Stop or one of several effects modes, and holding it for over two seconds erases the current loop. The looping order can be programmed as REC/PLAY/DUB or REC/DUB/PLAY, and fadeout time is adjustable.
The pedal has stereo inputs and outputs and a buffered bypass. It can sync to an external MIDI clock, and an FC jack accepts the Electro-Harmonix Triple Foot Controller for bank up/down and instant undo-redo. A USB port connects to the EHX 1440 Loop Manager app for Mac and Windows, used to back up loops or move them into other software. A power adapter is included.
