Game Capture Neo takes an HDMI signal from a game console and passes it to a screen with no added lag, while sending a copy to a laptop or iPad for recording or streaming. The passthrough supports up to 4K60 HDR, and the captured video is limited to 1080p60. Recordings carry no watermark and have no time limit, and they can go to a local drive or be streamed live.
Setup is plug-and-play: the console connects to the HDMI input, the display to the HDMI output, and the computer to the USB 3.0 port. The unit then shows up as a video source in any recording or broadcasting app, and the maker's free Elgato Studio software is available for Windows and macOS and also handles firmware updates. An iPad can be used as the capture host through a third-party USB-C cable or adapter, with a third-party app such as Camo Studio, though only one audio source can be captured at a time on iPad.
The body is small, with rear-facing ports and a status LED that shows when the device is connected and ready. A USB-C to USB-A cable is supplied, and a two-year limited warranty applies when bought in original packaging.
