Prompter XL is a larger version of the original Elgato Prompter. It combines a 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080 px display rated at 600 nits with a 70/30 beamsplitter glass, and the display mirrors whatever is shown on it. The body is plastic over a metal skeleton and the camera bracket is aluminum. The bracket holds up to 5 kg (11 lbs) and cameras up to 22 cm long including the lens. The recommended reading distance is up to 4.6 m (15 ft).
The display can be removed and used as a spare monitor, and the glass can be detached for travel or cleaning. A ring backplate and a universal backplate are included for different lenses, along with nine step-up rings from 49 to 82 mm. 3D files for printing a custom backplate are provided. Mounting is by two 1/4" threads and one 3/8" thread, and a cold-shoe rail takes accessories such as lights or shotgun mics.
The unit connects to a computer through a single USB-C 3.2 cable that carries both power and data, and it needs a port that supplies 15 W. It is controlled with the free Camera Hub app on Windows and macOS, which includes a script manager, display mode, Twitch chat integration and Stream Deck support. Voice Sync tracking needs an NVIDIA RTX GPU or an Apple M1 or newer. Android is supported via the DisplayLink Presenter app.
