The SX-5A is a compact two-way powered reference monitor. A 1-inch silk dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet handles the highs, with a heat sink and ferrofluid cooling, while a 5.5-inch copolymer woofer with a butyl surround covers the lows. The enclosure is ported and made of MDF.
An onboard bi-amp module drives each driver separately, rated at 30W for the high-frequency driver and 60W for the low-frequency driver. A multi-pole active crossover splits the signal between the two drivers.
Inputs are a balanced XLR and an unbalanced RCA, which suit both -10 dBV and +4 dB sources. The cabinet is audio/video shielded so it can sit near computer CRT monitors, and rubber monitor feet are supplied. User manuals are offered in seven languages.
