The U 47 fet i is a reissue of the solid-state studio microphone first released in 1972 as the successor to the U 47 tube microphone. It uses the same K 47 large-diaphragm condenser capsule and headgrille design as the tube original, combined with a FET head amplifier and a large output transformer. The pattern is fixed cardioid.
It handles up to 137 dB SPL, or 147 dB with the -10 dB pad engaged, and has a stated dynamic range of 119 dB. The pad and low-cut switches are on the rear of the body. A further switch next to the XLR socket lowers the output level by 6 dB, which helps with vintage preamps that have little headroom. A one-sided swivel mount makes positioning easier.
The microphone connects over a balanced XLR output and runs on 48 V phantom power. It ships in a wooden box with a certificate and operating manual, in a nickel finish.
