The PMC12 SUBXBD is a 1-way active bass cabinet designed to be paired with the PMC12 three-way active monitor. Together they form a PMC12 XBD system with more overall headroom and more consistent, linear low-frequency response in the listening room. The cabinets can be arranged as a vertical tower or horizontally side by side, and installed free-standing or mounted in a soffit.
It uses the same 12-inch long-throw bass driver as the PMC12 master monitor, loaded by an Advanced Transmission Line enclosure with an effective line length of 3.5 m. Laminair airflow technology is built into the enclosure to reduce turbulence and air noise at high levels. Each cabinet weighs 52 kg.
No separate amplifier is needed. The subwoofer is powered by the existing PMC12 master36 DSP/amplifier electronics, which supply up to 1000 W to the low-frequency driver and provide excursion limiting and room-optimisation EQ. The system is configured over a standard LAN connection through the SoundAlign2 browser-based interface. Analogue and digital inputs (up to 192 kHz) are available. The product is listed as currently in production, with a waitlist open.
