JDV

The JDV is an active direct box built around a discrete class-A circuit. It has two inputs, so a single unit can handle active or passive instruments, piezo transducers and microphones. The inputs can be combined into one signal, and a built-in Radial Phazer lets the two sources be phase-aligned when a pickup and a microphone are used together.

A Drag Control circuit corrects the load placed on the instrument pickup, aiming for a more natural tone. The design runs on 30-volt rails, which gives a large amount of headroom. A 48V phantom-powered microphone input is available for acoustic sources such as upright bass.

Typical uses include switching between two basses, using an optional JR-2 A-B footswitch to select the source and a JR-2 mute footswitch to silence the signal for tuning, or blending an under-bridge piezo with a mounted microphone on an acoustic guitar.
