The PreMax is a channel-strip module for 500 series power racks. It pairs a microphone preamplifier with a three-band equaliser so a signal can be gained up and tonally shaped in one slot. Gain is set with an AccuState control, which is aimed at low-noise operation, and a high-pass filter helps remove excessive low-frequency resonance.
A front-panel switch changes the input between microphone and instrument. Microphones connect to the XLR input on the rack, with phantom power switched on as needed. Instruments such as bass connect through the Omniport input on the rear of a Radial power rack, which allows direct recording without a separate DI.
The maker positions the module for studio tracking, instrument overdubs and broadcast or voice-over work in post production, where a quick setup matters. The maker lists it as discontinued and no longer shipping, with the user guide and smart sheet still available for owners.
