The StageDirect is an active DI with a Hi-Z input for the instrument, a thru-put for a stage amp and a balanced low-impedance output for the PA. A second Hi-Z input and an A/B select footswitch let a player change instruments without switching noise reaching the PA. A mute footswitch cuts the signal to the PA and stage amp while the dedicated tuner output stays active, so tuning between songs is silent.
The circuit pairs a class-A FET input driver with a low-noise op-amp. A -10dB pad handles hot sources such as active basses or keyboards, a high-pass filter rolls off excess low end to reduce clutter and feedback, and a 180° polarity reverse switch helps align the stage amp with the PA or move acoustic hot spots on stage. Two LEDs show whether the unit is muted or ready.
Mute can also be triggered remotely from a momentary (non-latching) footswitch on a dedicated 1/4" jack, so a stage tech can mute the instrument during a hand-off. Power comes from 48V phantom power at the console or from the included 15VDC supply.
