RS5

The RS5 is a medium-sized floor-standing speaker. It combines an RR125 bass/mid unit, an HF20-ZRR tweeter and a side-firing 7-inch bass driver that uses an 8-layer voice coil, so that driver needs no crossover components. A sealed mid-section, a comb filter and a tuned port work together with the drivers.

The crossover is deliberately simple, with no extra filter networks. Because of this, bi-wiring gives no advantage, while bi-amping can improve both the mid/bass and tweeter units. The port fires from the front, so the speaker can be placed against a wall without bass lift, and the side-firing bass design is intended to help in difficult rooms.

The cabinet is slim and understated, following the styling of the RS range. It is rated at 6 ohms and about 89 dB sensitivity, handles 110 W per channel, and is offered in Natural Cherry, Black Ash and Gloss Piano Black. It connects through speaker terminals that support bi-wiring and bi-amping.
