The VP64A is a handheld dynamic microphone with an omnidirectional pickup pattern, so sound is picked up evenly on and off axis and exact positioning matters less. Its frequency response is tailored with an upper-midrange presence rise intended to add crispness and clarity to speech. The cartridge uses a neodymium magnet for higher output and a better signal-to-noise ratio.
An internal rubber isolation mount protects the cartridge and keeps handling noise low. The mesh grille is water-resistant for use in poor weather, and a supplied windscreen cuts pop and wind noise further. The 200 mm body is suited to close-up work, indoors or outdoors. A longer 244 mm version, the VP64AL, is otherwise identical and is aimed at location interviews and sports broadcasting.
The package includes an A57F swivel adapter for stand mounting and a 49A130 windscreen. An A53M shock mount clip and a VPH long handle are listed as optional accessories.
