Technics Floor Standing Speaker SB-G90M2

The SB-G90M2 is a floor-standing loudspeaker built around a newly developed coaxial driver that handles the mid and high frequencies. A 16 cm midrange cone and a 2.5 cm dome tweeter share one axis, and a shaped Linear Phase Plug with a brass tip sits in front of the tweeter. The aim is a point sound source with aligned phase, so that the sound stage and image localisation stay consistent across the listening area. The midrange diaphragm has a shallow profile and a smooth edge to limit reflections.

Below the coaxial unit are two long-stroke 16 cm woofers with double-magnet motors, long voice coils and copper rings. The cabinet is reinforced with a cross structure, and the coaxial driver baffle is separate from the woofer baffle to avoid mutual interference. A sound-path structure at the bottom of the woofer cabinet, with a small amount of absorbing material, is designed to remove standing waves.

Connection is by bi-wiring speaker terminals, so the woofers and the mid/high unit can be driven by separate amplifiers. Impedance is 4 ohms, with a recommended amplifier output of 40 to 200 W. Spikes, spike shoes, base plates, rubber feet, a speaker net and short wires are supplied.
